Whether you are new to casino betting or a casino old-timer, twenty-one is one of the easiest and most fun games betting houses have to offer. The objective in vingt-et-un is to beat the dealer by getting a hand value as close to twenty-one as possible while not going over. To bet on vingt-et-un, you just need a general comprehension of the game rules and a eagerness to experience excitement.

So how do you reach 21? In blackjack, the cards have values. Number cards two up to 10 are valued at the number printed on the card, while all face cards (King, Queen and Jack) are worth ten points. The ace is a unique card in chemin de fer: you decide whether it’s worth 1 or 11 points. Since casino gamblers are handed two cards to start, if you are given an ace and a ten valued card, you have twenty-one-an instant win, as long as the dealer doesn’t get twenty-one as well. This two-card winning hand is called a "black jack"; hence the name of the game!

Casino rules for chemin de fer are essentially similar at all betting houses. After you are given your initial two cards, your choices are to take another card, stand, double your wager and take one card, split, or sometimes surrender.

When you play twenty-one at a betting house, be sure to understand which table to choose. Most betting houses have color coded blackjack tables depending on the min. wager the table accepts, usually 3 dollars, 5 dollars, $25 or 100 dollars. In any betting house, it’s a certainty the $3 and five dollar tables will be filled, but they’re great for novices at chemin de fer considering that all of the cards are handed out face-up, unlike the 1up, 1down concept at higher tables. So the upcoming instanceor the first time-you go to a casino, be certain to stop at the black jack tables and target for twenty-one!
