Playing Vingt-et-un — to Win

If you love the blast and adventure of a good card game and the excitement of winning and earning some money with the odds in your favour, playing Blackjack is for you.

So, how can you defeat the house?

Quite simply when gambling on chemin de fer you are tracking the risks and chances of the cards in regard to:

1. The cards in your hand

2. What cards should be dealt from the shoe

When enjoying twenty-one there is statistically a best way to play every hand and this is referred to as basic strategy. If you add card counting that helps you calculate the chances of cards being dealt from the deck, then you can increase your bet amount when the odds are in your favor and decrease them when the edge is not.

You are only going to succeed at under half the hands you wager on, so it is important that you adjust bet size when the odds are in your favour.

To do this when gambling on vingt-et-un you have to use basic strategy and card counting to win.

Basic strategy and counting cards

Since professionals and scientists have been studying chemin de fer all kinds of abstract plans have been developed, including "counting cards" but although the theory is complex counting cards is actually very easy when you bet on twenty-one.

If when playing twenty-one you card count effectively (even if the game uses multiple decks), you can tilt the edge to your favour.

Vingt-et-un Basic Strategy

Blackjack basic strategy is centralized around an unsophisticated plan of how you wager depending upon the cards you are dealt and is mathematically the best hand to play without counting cards. It tells you when betting on blackjack when you need to hit or hold.

It is very easy to do and is soon committed to memory and up until then you can find free cards on the web

Using it when you gamble on vingt-et-un will bring down the casino’s expectations to near to zero.

Counting cards getting the edge in your favor

Card counting works and players use a card counting approach achieve an edge over the casino.

The reasoning behind this is easy.

Low cards favour the dealer in 21 and high cards favour the gambler.

Low cards favour the dealer because they help him make winning totals on her hands when she is stiff (has a twelve, 13, 14, fifteen, or sixteen total on her first two cards).

In casino blackjack, you can stand on your stiffs if you choose to, but the casino can’t.

The casino has no decision to make, but you do and this is your advantage. The rules of betting on vingt-et-un require that dealers hit stiffs no matter how loaded the deck is in high cards that will break them.

The high cards favour the player because they may bust the dealer when he hits her stiffs and also blackjacks are made with aces and tens.

Although blackjacks are, evenly distributed between the casino and the player, the fact is that the player gets paid more (3:2) when he gets a blackjack so the player has an advantage.

You do not have to tally the data of each of the individual card in order to know when you have an advantage over the house.

You simply need to know at what point the deck is rich or depleted in high cards and you can increase your wager when the edge is in your favor.

This is a simple breakdown of how card-counting systems work, but gives you an insight into why the logic works.

When playing 21 over the longer term card counting will help in shifting the expectation in your favor by approximately 2 percent.
