Twenty-One Essential Basics – Part One

The general concept of the card game is to be handed cards totaling up to twenty one. Every gambler is given two cards. When a gambler is given a nine or lower value card and an Ace they’ve been handed a soft hand. When the gambler receives no Ace cards it is referred to as a hard hand. As soon as the cards have been given to all players at the blackjack table, including the dealer, every blackjack player is provided the chance to make 1 of 6 decisions:

Taking another card (Hit): When a blackjack player says "hit me" the dealer will deal them another card, if the addition of that card makes the value of the hand to exceed 21 the black jack player will have busted and be excluded from the game, if the card pushes the value of the hand to 21 the player wins and if the total has not yet achieved twenty-one they are still in the game.

Keeping the hand you have been dealt: If a black jack player is happy with the hand they will stand. Once this has happened the croupier will display their hand and the gambler who has accumulated 21 or the nearest to twenty one will acquire a win.

Doubling Down: A player may ask to double down which increases the bet by 100% they have placed. As soon as you have taken this procedure you can only receive 1 additional card. The specifics of doubling down are usually specified by the blackjack table or casino game rules so before competing make certain you are familiar with the casino established rules. If you are competing at an on-line casino this is normally quite easy.

Stay tuned for part two.
